Dear ECFSC Member,
Another summer has flown by!
Now that we’re all more or less settled back into our school-year
routines, the Board has asked me to announce and implement our new Rink
Monitoring Policy. This new policy will
come into effect at the beginning of the November-December 2006 contract
period. Lisa Bennett, chair of the Rink
Monitoring Committee, will be its administrator. The policy is outlined below; it is designed
to encourage full membership participation and to provide a small reward to
those families who take on more than their share of monitoring duties.
Only families who have contracted ice for a period are
required to rink monitor during that contract period. Rink monitoring is one of those small but
important volunteering opportunities which improve the quality of our
competitive skaters and help insure the safety of all our skaters on the
ice. It is a great chance to get to know
the names and faces of all our skaters and observe their gradual
improvement. If you have questions or
concerns regarding rink monitoring, or would like to volunteer for one of our
many remaining committee openings, our club’s next General Meeting is scheduled
for Sunday, October 15 at 2:30 pm in the
O’Brien Room.
See You at the Rink,
Todd Meyer
ECFSC President
RINK MONITORING
POLICY REQUIREMENTS
- Members
have until the 15th of the first month in each 2-month contract
period to sign up for their required number of rink monitoring
sessions. After the 15th
of the first month of the contract period, any unclaimed sessions may be
taken by the first person to claim them.
- Any
family that does not monitor their minimum required number of sessions (or
arrange for a substitute) will be fined $5.00 per session missed, whether
Moves or Freestyle. Anyone who
signs up for a session, but does not monitor it or arrange for a
substitute, will likewise be fined $5.00 per session missed.
- Any
family that monitors beyond their minimum requirement will be given a
credit with the club of $2.00 per session, whether Moves or
Freestyle. Any family that signs up
for an extra session but does not monitor it or arrange for a substitute
will be fined $5.00 per extra session missed.
- Failure
to keep current with monitoring or fine balance due will result in that
family’s loss of Good Standing with the ECFSC, meaning that their
skater(s) will be denied competition registration signatures as well as
the right to contract ice or participate in the ECFSC Ice Show. (See Eau
Claire Figure Skating Club 2005-2006 Handbook, pg. 6 “Outstanding Bill
Policy” and pgs. 11-12 “Contract Ice Policy”; also, Bylaws Eau Claire
Figure Skating Club, Article IX, Sections 4 & 5.)
- A
“Standing Status Board” will be posted in the Pro Parent Room, where the
names of club families currently not in Good Standing will be listed. This list will be updated as fines are
paid.
